Above video shows clearly the 'wild' and dynamic movement of the power arc through the insulator string set, thus subjecting the insulator with extreme heat from the plasma beam.

The second video clearly shows, what a good arc ring is doing. It is giving a stable plasma beam, directing away from the insulators. Thus preventing damage due to extreme heat.
